Montenegro's transfer fees fell 92% in SEPA, from €73.40 to €6.15

Since Montenegro joined SEPA in October 2025, the average cross-border payment cost has fallen from €73.40 to €6.15. A 92% drop, confirmed in World Bank data. Six months in: 82,213 transactions worth over €1.6 billion.

Why I keep bringing this up to buyers: this is plumbing, and plumbing is what actually changes behaviour. Moving a deposit, paying a builder, collecting rent into an EU account. Each just got cheaper and faster.

The border is still there. The fee that made you feel it is gone.

What I'd watch: honestly, nothing. This one is done and working. File it under reasons the operational case for owning in Montenegro quietly improved.
